Caring for your LOX

A beautiful wig isn't fragile — it's something to enjoy for a long time. With a little gentle attention, your LOX keeps its shine, its movement, and its shape, wear after wear. Here's everything you need, in plain language, with no guesswork.

Know your fiber

How you care for your LOX depends on what it's made of. Most of the steps below are the same for every wig — but ALL LOX WIGS are heat friendly synthetic fiber.

Synthetic & heat-friendly

Designed to hold their style beautifully — the curl or wave is set into the fiber, so it bounces back after washing with almost no effort. Standard synthetic won't tolerate hot tools; but LOX heat-friendly fibers can take low heat. Always do a lester stand first.

Step one

Washing your LOX

How often: there's no need to over-wash. For most everyday wear, refreshing your LOX every eight to ten wears is plenty — or sooner if it starts to feel heavy, dull, or weighed down by product. Gentler, less frequent washing means a longer life.

  1. Detangle first.Gently work through any knots with a wide-tooth comb or wig brush, starting at the ends and moving up. Never wash a tangled wig.
  2. Use cool water.Fill a clean basin with cool-to-lukewarm water and add a small amount of wig shampoo. I actually use baby shampoo from the dollar tree, but you do what you want. Some people use Herbal Essences Rose, Some people use wig specific, and some use Dawn dish soap. Hot water change the style.
  3. Soak, don't scrub.Submerge the wig and swish it gently. Let the water do the work — no rubbing, twisting, or wringing.
  4. Rinse.Rinse with cool water, and rinse again, and again, and again. You want to make sure that absolutely no more shampoo product is in the fibers. If there is, your wig will feel even dirtier than before.
  5. Condition the lengths.Smooth a little conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the cap and lace. Leave a minute or two, then rinse like before. I dont typically use conditioner on my first wash.
  6. Blot dry and set out.Press gently with a soft towel to lift out excess water. Resist the urge to rub. Friction is what we are completely avoiding here.

Step two

Drying

Let your LOX air dry. Set it out on a towel, hang up inside the shower curtain or whatever works for yuo. Keep it away from direct sun, radiators, and blow dryers.

For curls and waves, simply leave them alone while they dry — the style falls right back into place on its own. Some people avoid brushing synthetic styles while they're wet some people notice that water will help separate fibers. whatever you do - do not tug on the fibers.

Every day

Wearing & detangling

A little daily care goes a long way.

  • Brush gently, with a wig brush or wide-tooth comb, always from the ends up — holding the root so you're never pulling on the cap or wefts.
  • Be kind to the nape. Collars, scarves, and jackets create friction that causes tangling at the back, the most common spot for wear.
  • Hands off the lace. If your style has a lace front, handle the hairline and knots gently, especially when wet.

Heat & styling

  • Heat-friendly synthetic: low heat only. Check your maximum recommended temperature (310), test a small hidden section first.

    • Between wears

    Storing your LOX

    • For everyday, a wig stand holds the shape and keeps the style fresh. But the fibers will collect dust if youre not actively wearing.
    • For travel or longer storage, tuck it into a satin bag — our reverse satin travel bags are made for exactly this, protecting the fibers from friction and dust.
    • Always keep it out of direct sunlight and heat hen storing, athis will heat up the fibers, then when it cools the style will set. This is often refered to as cold set.

    The quick version

    • Store in satin or on a stand, away from sun and heat

    Avoid

    • Hot water and harsh shampoos
    • Brushing from the roots down
    • Not rinsing out all product.
    • Rubbing, wringing, or sleeping in a wet wig
